What you need to do to ensure your boiler recovers after the hard winter slog

The winter is almost over and spring is about to be sprung.  And while spring cleaning is most likely what you are focussed on, please remember that your boiler needs a bit of a spring clean as well. It is understandable that you might be thinking ‘why would I need to maintain my boiler in Spring’?

It is often overlooked to get your boiler serviced in the Spring time but it actually makes a lot of sense.  Your boiler is essential not just for the heating of radiators in your home but also the hot water.  So even though it is not working as hard as the weather warms up, your boiler is still needed so making sure it is checked over is just sensible. You may think your boiler is fine but if any problems have popped up in the winter months, you don’t want them to develop over the warmer months of the year.  This can make them become expensive problems that can shut your boiler down for days.

A standard boiler service covers:

• Pipework inspection
• Inspection of boiler casing and casing seals
• Cleaning Condensate Trap
• Removal of Combustion panel
• Clean spark electrode (if required)
• Clean flame rectification probe (if required)
• Clean burner
• Clean combustion chamber
• Check flue
• Test Burner Pressure to ensure an efficient gas burn
• Test flue gases to ensure an efficient burn
• Check the Gas Rate
• Cleaning of the magnetic filter (if already fitted)
