Common Questions we get asked about new boiler installs
At WrightGas, we have been dealing with new boiler installs for so long now that we have a good idea of the most frequently asked questions that our customers want to know about. So to help, we have answered some of them below. If you have a question about a new boiler install then please contact us. You will always find a friendly and experienced gas engineer to talk to about your gas heating needs.
How much does a new boiler cost?
As an example of how much a new boiler costs, at WrightGas(Scotland) Ltd, we can offer Combi boiler swaps for as little as £1200. And depending on what boiler you go for, it can come with up to 10 years in parts & Labour warranty!
While we would love to be able to provide a more complete price guide for you, the simple truth is that each boiler install is different. Across Renfrewshire and the West Coast of Scotland, there is a huge range of home styles ranging from Victorian sandstone homes, mid 21st century bungalows, modern flats and a whole host of other house styles. And within each style and age of home, you have both the different generations of construction techniques along with the varying ‘DIY’ jobs that previous owners have tried out. So it is quite common to find a Victorian sandstone semi detached house that still has gas piping that uses piping sizes that are no longer used and needs to be replaced. In a bungalow, you may find that modern safety regulations dictate that where the boiler currently is unfortunately not allowed anymore and needs to be repositioned.
While we don’t want to scare you with these examples, we need you to understand that sometimes, it is not a case of simply switching out the old for the new like you would some batteries in your TV remote. A new boiler install requires an in site inspection so that we can accurately quote you.
Are new boilers really that energy efficient?
Yes they are. Depending obviously on how old your current boiler is, the rate of development and ‘burn efficiency’ of new combi-boilers is truly amazing. While the type of house you live in and the level of insulation, draughting etc will dictate how much of a return you get from your new boiler, for so many, they can expect to have recouped the cost of a new boiler within a few years simply with reduced energy bills.
Which Boiler Brand is best?
When it comes to a new boiler, selecting a boiler installer is just one part of the puzzle. Deciding on what brand of boiler for your home is equally important. With experience of so many makes and models of gas boiler, we have real working experience of them all and can help advise you on what is best for your lifestyle. What do we mean by that? Well if you live in a house where hot water demands are high, we may suggest a few particular boiler makes. If energy efficiency is the most important aspect for you, we can advise you on the options and of course when it comes to budget, we can give you a selection that ticks all the boxes that you are looking for.
Do new boilers come with warranty?
Yes they do. Obviously different brands have different level and duration of warranty for peace of mind but one thing that is so frequently overlooked with boiler warranty is that the boiler must be serviced each year during the duration of that warranty or it becomes invalid.
