Glasgow Fair Day 2021
While annual leave has made the two week holiday redundant, Glasgow Fair Day is still a local public holiday and is one of the oldest holidays in Scotland.
What began as an attraction to bring in tourists and trade to the market held outside Glasgow Cathedral, and then moved to the East End where the Barras Market now stands, is still a popular date for local residents in Glasgow. Right up until the 1960s, lots of local Glasgow businesses would close to allow their workers a wee holiday on the Scottish Coast.
These days things are different but while some businesses still shut on the Glasgow Fair Monday, you will still see the Wright Gas van out and about as we install boilers, repair existing ones and provide the very best in gas engineering services for our customers across the West Coast.
