How long does it take to install a boiler?

A boiler is pretty important in Scotland.  After all, it can get pretty cold – even in July!

So when you either take the plunge and decide to get  a new boiler fitted – OR – you are forced into it because your existing boiler is simply no longer able to work properly (after all, all boilers get to a point where parts are hard to source), then you will want to know how long it will take to fit a new boiler.

We fit new boilers all year round.  Those that commit to having a new boiler fitted have the luxury have scheduling the install in at a time that works for them.  Generally this is around the summer time when it is warm and your dependence on a boiler is less.  But for those that are forced into the move, it generally comes at the least convenient time – winter.

If your boiler breaks down and you have to have a new boiler installed in the colder winter months, you definitely want to know how long it is going to take.

When it comes to fitting a boiler, there is the fast way, the cheap way, the wrong way…..the list goes on.

At Wright Gas, we believe in fitting a new boiler the (W)right Way! And that means installing the boiler properly and ensuring it operates to maximum efficiency.

So how long does a new boiler install take from Wright Gas?

A new boiler install can take between 1 to 3 working days depending on the complexity of the job. A simple boiler swap for example is a relatively easy job.  But what if you are wanting to move the boiler from one side of a room to the other?  That can obviously take longer.

how long does a boiler install take?

If you are wanting to move the gas boiler in your home from one location such as from a cupboard in the kitchen to free up some storage space, then that new location needs the various heating and gas pipes to be fitted. In Scotland, there is a vast range of home styles and construction dates. Depending on the age of your home, this can realistically add a day to your new boiler install job. This is because there are various Health & Safety regulations for fitting a new boiler and importantly, WHERE it can be fitted. So the specific location you want to fit your new boiler may not be legally allowed.

What about types of boiler?

Combi boilers are the most commonly fitted type of gas boiler in the UK.  And because of their benefits, more and more home owners are switching to combi boilers when the time comes to fit a new boiler. But switching from one type of boiler to another does come added complications. New pipes, adding a flue…. The time to remove an existing boiler, fit the new piping and flue exhaust system can add time to a boiler install.

Anything else?

If your homes central heating system and gas boiler is an older system then the pipework may not be suitable to a new boiler install. Modern heating guidelines means that the gas pipes that can be fitted must meet strict requirements. When we conduct an initial evaluation when quoting you for a new boiler install, we can inspect and advise you on this.

Don’t however be dis-heartened by this.  At Wright Gas, we know what we are doing and when it comes to boiler installs, we don’t think there is anyone better. We are happy to talk you through the various options when it comes to boiler installs and all it takes is a simple phone call.

If you are thinking of having a new boiler installed and want to know how long it can take (and how much it will cost) then call us today and find out more.
