Replacing gas valves on an old Worcester boiler
There are a number of reasons why a gas boiler can break down. From a lack of maintenance and servicing to cheap parts and simply bad luck.
We finished off the last week of January with a call out to a customer in Catrine in Ayrshire who’s boiler had stopped working and they were without hot water or central heating. Considering this January and we live in Scotland, having neither hot water or central heating meant this was a high priority repair job.
What was the problem with the boiler
The problem was simply that a Gas valve in the boiler had failed. Not surprising considering that the boiler was over 15 years old.
What brand of boiler was it?
It was a Worcester Bosch brand of boiler. Worcester Bosch boilers are one of the market leaders of boiler in Scotland. They are made of quality parts, are well engineered and if looked after properly, can last a very long time. The fact that this boiler is over 15 years old is a good example of that.
How did you fix the boiler?
Thankfully the problem was relatively straightforward so the repair job was as well. We just needed to access and replace the gas valve in the boiler and before you know it, the tenant had their boiler back up and running, producing hot water and heating their home just in time for the weekend.
