Should I turn my boiler off during the summer?
It may seem like a sensible thing to do; but turning your boiler off during the summer may actually damage it in the long run. A modern combi gas boiler actually has a number of systems and programmes that it runs through in the background to ensure that the central heating system is working a-okay all the time. That is why it is advisable to keep your boiler running during the summer.
You can turn the radiators off so that you still have hot water in the taps (for the likes of a bath or washing dishes) but it is vital to keep your boiler running, even for a few minutes a week over the hot summer months to keep the system working properly. If you do not do this, you could find that your central heating system will begin developing faults that will only start to appear in the colder, winter months.
