The History of Baxi Boilers
As you will have seen from the logo in the header of our website and from the fact that we mention it from time to time – we are a Baxi approved installer.
But who are Baxi?
Baxi are part of a larger business called BDR Thermea who are one of the largest manufacturers of domestic and commercial heating systems in Europe.
With an annul turnover of over €1.2 billion (with a B) and employing nearly 7,000 people. They are a big fish in the heating world. Baxi themselves are one of the brands operated by BDR Thermea and have production facilities and training centres across the UK.
The history of Baxi
But that is who Baxi are now. To understand their history, you have to go all the way back 150 years to Richard Baxendale who was an Iron founder. He began the Baxendale Company in 1866 in Preston, Lancashire and as you would expect from a company with such a rich history, they have been involved in some of the biggest engineering advances in boiler systems.
In November 2000, Newmond PLC and Baxi Holdings PLC merged to create the Baxi Group.
Then in July 2010, the Baxi Group merged with Netherlands rival De Dietrich Remeha to form BDR Thermea.
So why do we recommend Baxi Boilers?
It is not just the history of the business. It is the quality of their product and their drive for the future. Baxi Boilers are multiple award winning products with awards across multiple award bodies and countries. All of this means that we can recommend their boilers with confidence because when it comes to fitting a new boiler – there is the wrong way and then, there is the Wright Way!
