The history of Saunier Duval Boilers

As a brand of Vaillant Group, Saunier Duval has a rich history stretching back over 100 years.

Founded in 1907, the company was originally known as Saunier Duval & Cie.  The company was founded by Charles Saunier and Maurice Duval.

The company, while best known now as boiler heating manufacturers were best known originally for the production of gas street lanterns in France.  From 1922 onwards however, the brand began to focus on heating and hot water products.

By 1950, the Saunier Duval brand was known across France and their highly modern service, sales and training made them one of the most popular heating companies in the country.

From the 1960s,  Saunier Duval branched out into the West and East of Europe and this expansion required a brand new factory in Nantes.  Such was the production capacity of the new factory that Saunier Duval was manufacturing a new gas boiler every 37 seconds!

By 1975, the company was over 10,000 employees strong and as the brand grew, they began to move into heat pumps and solar reflectors in the early to mid 80s. This diversification of the brands portfolio continued into the 90s when they began manufacturing air conditioning units.

Over the next two decades, the brand introduced more efficient, reliable and advanced boilers, heat pumps and solar systems.  Then in 2009, they launched their first hybrid boiler system that was compatible with all gas and oil boilers.

Alongside a quality product, Saunier Duval prides itself on providing extensive service quality and customer service. All of their products are manufactured to the highest quality using quality materials.  This helps to distinguish Saunier Duval Boilers are an incredibly durable brand of boiler.
