Gas Safety Check for Commercial Unit in Tradeston

In all areas of life, safety is and always should be of the highest priority.  And when it comes to gas boilers and heating systems, gas safety checks are a big part of staying safe.  Which is why we were in Tradeston, Glasgow this week completing a Gas Safety Check for a commercial unit.

From gas boilers to cookers and heaters, if a business uses gas, they need to have gas safety checks carried out. With any gas appliance, there is a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.  This is why a boiler has to have a carbon monoxide detector fitted next to it when the boiler is installed.  There are strict rules in place across the UK for gas safety checks and for commercial businesses, they need to have what is referred to as a CP12.  This is a document that confirms gas appliances have been tested for safety, conducted by a Gas Safe qualified engineer. Commercial properties have to have their gas appliances inspected every 12 months to ensure that they are in safe working order. The results of these inspections are then logged on a Gas Safety Record which includes a description of each appliance inspected by the engineer.

What is Gas Safe Registered?

You will see the Gas Safe logo on our website, our vehicles and even our business cards. Gas Safe Register is the only registration body for gas businesses in the UK and all gas boiler companies in the country must be Gas Safe Registered. Similar to people having a DVLA drivers license, being Gas Safe Registered is effectively a training and assessment process to ensure that a gas engineer is competent in what they are doing when it comes to gas appliances.

Prior to 2009/2010, CORGI was the registration body for Great Britain. Since then, Gas Safe Register has been the only registration body for Scotland, England, Ireland, Isle of Man and Guernsey.
